Information about Big Buddha

The Big Buddha, Samui's most famous landmark, is 12 metres tall and sits at the top of a wide staircase decorated with dragons. Located on a small island just off Big Buddha beach, it dominates the landscape and attracts visitors from all over the world. The view from the top of the staircase is brilliant.

Close to Big Buddha island is Big Buddha Beach. Not too much going on here, except on Sundays when the The Secret Garden draws visiting bands and musicians to play impromptu sessions live every Sunday afternoon from 4p.m. until 8p.m. The sessions usually attract a crowd of around 200-300 hundred people, all in a party mood. Apart from this weekly happening, the area remains peaceful and relaxing.
